In May 1998, Brian and Annette Smith took a bold leap, leaving their roles at LEAR Corporation to forge their own path in engineering. With a vision for precision, innovation, and adaptability, they founded ADAPT Technology in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
The company began with a strong foundation in CAD software, specializing in IDEAS. A pivotal early milestone was training approximately 500 Nissan employees at ADAPT’s Farmington Hills office, a testament to the firm’s technical expertise and ability to equip teams with cutting-edge engineering tools. As ADAPT grew, so did its capabilities. Beyond engineering design, the company expanded into staffing solutions, seamlessly integrating talent resources with its technical services. This strategic move created a dual revenue stream, enabling ADAPT to offer high-quality engineering without premium pricing—ensuring even independent inventors could bring their ideas to life.
More than two decades later, ADAPT Technology continues to thrive, evolving with the industry while staying true to its founding principles. Our CAGE Code is 5LA13 and we perform complete engineering, packaging and systems integration, structural design, CAE analysis, CFD, occupant protection design and prototype fabrication for prime and sub-prime contractors. We also work directly for US Department of Defense material command agencies using self-contained and industry team-based assets and contractual vehicles. ADAPT is committed to the development of vehicle and material needs for our war fighters in the battle against world-wide tyranny and terrorism.
